“Vanity”
A part of the series dedicated to Hallie’s late grandmother, Vanity is inspired by remembered experiences of her grandmother’s vanity, the location in which she got ready and applied her make-up. The artist recollects many great conversations there as she got ready. The color palette is drawn from a memory of a poster which hung on the wall opposite the vanity. So as the artist sat and talked with her grandmother, this poster was reflected in the mirror. The poster depicted a woman in a blue dress or hat…next to a leopard.
