Energy Series II
Since completing "Energy Series I", which was acquired permanently by The Bank of America Building in downtown Midland, Hamilton has contemplated how to continue this body of work. The first series consisted of many large scale works whose color palettes brightly reflect colors seen in the today’s technology of modern oil exploration. The artist continues these oil and gas inspired works with “Energy Series II,” but chose a distinctly neutral color palette to portray the earthy tones of the oil and gas being produced and the earth that encapsulates it. "Energy Series II" abstractly interprets seismic imaging and the stratigraphy found in the Permian Basin. Born and raised in Midland, Texas, the artist pays homage to the energy industry of West Texas. Hamilton invites each viewer to consider their own elicited feeling or view of each piece.
